Good news! The second tower went live yesterday. Located on the peak of the hill overlooking Ceramic Mine Road, the "Melissa Tower" should fill in the radio shadows cast by the hills around here, particularly along East Waseosa Lake Road and the areas around Palette, Ripple and the north end of Waseosa. In fact, the location should provide extensive coverage from Huntsville to Novar.
So if you couldn't get wireless high speed service because of the terrain before, your luck may just have changed. (Of course, they will have to do a site survey of your particular property to be sure, just like last time.)
They are just putting the final touches on the equipment and testing now. It should be ready to accept new subscribers shortly. They may re-aim some existing subscribers towards this new site to help balance the load.
They are also looking at sectoring the existing Waseosa Tower to further improve service. Basically, this means that they would add additional radio equipment and directional antennas so that subscribers on one side would connect to one radio and subscribers on the opposite side would connect to the second radio.
(Gloat: they are about 75% complete with planned construction in the Huntsville area. They are just starting the new tower construction program in Lake of Bays. And we have 2 towers already. All our hard work seems to have been worthwhile. Thanks for your patience.)
