Audrey Norton
October 25th, 1928 to June 27th, 2025
The Norton family is sad to share the news of the passing of the family matriarch Audrey. As many of you will know, her late husband Bill was one of the cofounders of the LWRA.
As a young bride, Audrey, her husband Bill and 3 young children moved to Bill’s hometown of Huntsville from Toronto. Two more children quickly followed and the family spent every summer on Lake Waseosa where Bill’s father had been building cottages since the mid 1920’s. In 1972 the family moved on to the lake permanently and Bill ‘commuted’ into town for work until his retirement.
For many years Audrey and Bill hosted Water fun day on their beach and the Corn roast on the property where daughter Sandy and husband Ross now live. Audrey and Bill were honorary lifetime members of the LWRA in recognition of their service to the association.
Audrey was a great mom to Eric, Sandy, Glen, John and Al, a fantastic grandmother and great grandmother to many. All of her children and their spouses live on Lakes Waseosa and Ripple today.
Audrey continued to live in the family home on the lake until 2023 when she went into the Pines Nursing Home in Bracebridge. Audrey received exceptional care from The Pines staff throughout her stay.
She had many fond memories of cocktail hour on the dock or the deck with her large extended family and friends and really enjoyed watching the boats go by and waving at the boaters.
As per her wishes, cremation has occurred and the family will be holding a private celebration of life at a later date.
