Kenneth Ball November 14, 1932 – June 27, 2025

It is with great sadness that the Ball family announces the peaceful passing of Kenneth (Ken) Ball on June 27, 2025, at the age of 92.

Beloved husband of Beth (née Shaver) for 65 wonderful years. Loving father to David (Tina), Steven (Kerry), and Carolyn (Dave). Cherished grandfather of Lauren (Cameron), Cameron (Meghan), Sharon (Kevin), Jennifer, and Mackenzie (Ryan). Proud great-grandfather of Garrett, Justin, Hunter, and a soon-to-arrive great-granddaughter, Eloise, expected in October.  Ken was predeceased by his brother, Vance Owen Ball. He was a loving uncle to Barbara (Barry), Gayle (Steve), Susan (late Doug), and Keith (Marg).

Ken’s lifelong connection to Lake Waseosa began when his father, Vance Ball, purchased property on the lake’s west side nearly 80 years ago. Along with his wife Gladys and their sons Owen and Ken, the family spent countless summers building memories at the cottage. In time, both brothers built their own cottages on the property, and later their children did the same continuing the family’s deep roots at Waseosa and passing the love of lake life down through the generations.

As children, Ken’s kids, Dave, Steve, and Carolyn, took over a paper route from the Nortons and delivered the Toronto Star by boat across Waseosa Lake and on foot or bike to Ripple and Palette Lakes. Rain or shine, the papers were run right to the doorstep, offering the kids a chance to connect with many lake residents—a tradition fondly remembered.

Ken and his brother Owen were original board members of the Lake Waseosa Ratepayers' Association (LWRA), where they helped organize Water Fun Days and Corn Roasts. They also took an active role in preserving the lake by monitoring water quality and helping stock it with fish.

Ken enjoyed a long and successful career with Bell Canada, retiring as Manager of Engineering. After retirement, Ken and Beth moved from Brampton to Lake Waseosa full-time, transforming their family cottage into a beautiful lakeside home.

An avid outdoorsman, Ken had a special passion for golf, hunting, and fishing. He was a proud member of the Huntsville Downs Golf Club and the Tiny Marsh Pheasant Hunters. He also had a lifelong love of dogs, especially Weimaraners, sharing his life with more than ten over the years.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
